Memorabilia
9/3/1988
vs. William & Mary
W, 31-23
The Hoos trail by seven at halftime, but Marcus Wilson
scores two touchdowns in the third quarter and the
defense puts the clamps on the Tribe in the second
half.

9/10/1988
vs. Penn State
L, 42-14
Penn State jumps on Virginia early, scoring
touchdowns on their first three possessions, and
snaps the Hoos' six-game winning streak. Shawn
Moore runs for two touchdowns in the loss.
9/17/1988
vs. Georgia Tech
W, 17-16
Mark Inderlied kicks a 35-yard field goal with nine
seconds left to lift the Hoos to a dramatic comeback
win.
9/24/1988
at Duke
L, 38-34
Trailing 31-7 at halftime, Shawn Moore changes into
his Superman costume for the second half, throwing
two touchdown passes to Tim Finkelston and adding
two touchdowns on the ground. Unfortunately, the
rally falls just short. But Duke still sucks.
10/8/1988
vs. Clemson
L, 10-7
Jeff Lageman (17 tackles) and David Griggs (15
tackles) lead a valiant defensive effort, but the Hoos
can't put enough points on the board. On a brighter
note, this game marked the first "alley-oop" touchdown
pass from Shawn Moore to Herman Moore.
10/15/1988
at Louisville
L, 30-28
After going up 28-14 on the strength of two Shawn
Moore to Bruce McGonnigal touchdown passes, the
Hoos falter down the stretch and lose their third
straight close game.

10/22/1988
at Wake Forest
W, 34-14
Shawn Moore puts up a school record 396 yards of
total offense (315 passing, 81 rushing) and three
touchdowns as the Hoos knock off Wake Forest for
the fifth consecutive time.

10/29/1988
at Virginia Tech
W, 16-10
In a sign of things to come, Herman Moore makes the
Hokies his personal bitch (7 receptions for 175 yards
and a touchdown) and the Hoos pick off three passes
on their side of the field to help preserve the win.
11/5/1988
vs. NC State
W, 19-14
Mark Inderlied ties a school record with four field
goals, including two from long distance (45 & 48
yards) and Herman Moore catches a touchdown pass
for the third straight game as the Hoos hold off the
Wolfpack. Jeff Lageman leads the defense with nine
tackles, an interception and a blocked field goal.

11/12/1988
at UNC
W, 27-24
The Hoos jump out to a 21-0 lead and then hold on for
dear life, getting their first victory in Chapel Hill since
1968.

11/19/1988
vs. Maryland
W, 24-23
The Hoos stop a two-point conversion attempt with
just over a minute left to snap a 15-game losing streak
to the Terps. Jeff Lageman shines in his final game as
a Cavalier, finishing with 15 tackles, a sack and an
interception).
